Mindfully Unemployed

She left work at 9 AM. All her things boxed up. "...Values don’t align with ours...” Work stopped so abrupt.   Unemployed—darn, she thought, “Here I go, again. The whole day is before me. Where to go and when?”   “Dismiss dark thoughts. Let them go. Don’t catastrophize. Might as well start the job search That sounds very wise.”   The drive home included stops Grocery store and bank. Bought fewer things than on list, Income flow just shrank.   Scarcity is a mindset. Recognize, dismiss. Replace it with gratitude. Change your brain like this.   In the house, stuff dropped at door. She unpacked her lunch. Searched on the computer then. Full time jobs and such.   Can’t take time to wallow, now. And she’s not upset. Something in her gut told her There’s no need to fret.   Job options are numerous. Restaurants and retails, Drivers, cashiers and desk clerks, All have job details....

Shirt Shenanigans

The morning was typical. This day same as most. I’d be heading off to school Amongst friends, engrossed.   Ten minute meditation High vibes all around. I comb my hair, wash my face. Sunblock goes on next. Breakfast’s on-should be waiting. Shirt is surely hexed!   After bounding down the stairs, Shirt I twist and tug. Why, oh why, won’t it fit right? Should fit like a hug.   I’ve made it to the table, Mom sees I’m not still. I eat, drink and talk a bit. Both hope I don’t spill.   Mom’s asking me ...

Jerica, who’s eight years old, Loves to somersault. Handsprings, backbends, cartwheels, too. Her tricks do not halt.   Equal time indoors and out, She’ll engage in flips. Vaults over rocks and tree trunks, In bliss, then she skips.   “She’s signed up for gymnastics,” Mom says to her friend. That friend got oh so quiet Their talk seemed to end.   “What dangerous adventure For a little girl. On high stuff, spins in the air, On ground she should twirl!”   Despite friend’s passing judgement, No need to defend. Friend showing her fear, for sure, Can fear ever end?   Mom smiles, says serenely, “She’s got skill and luck. Her coaching is underway.” The friend sat awestruck.   Finished sipping cups of tea, Friends departed ways. They talk often and catch up Every seven days.   Later on, when mom reflects, “How to share such news? I support life with dragons. They’re more than a m...
